HBL Nickel Cadmium Pocket Plate (NCPP) batteries provide dependable performance, long service life, and excellent resistance to demanding operating conditions. Available in high, medium, and long discharge ranges, HBL NCPP batteries can be configured for applications ranging from generator starting and switchgear protection to telecommunications, UPS systems, and emergency lighting.
Alpine Power Systems can help evaluate your application, select the appropriate battery configuration, and support your system throughout its operating life.
Reliable Power for Critical Applications
HBL NCPP batteries feature rugged pocket plate technology designed for industrial environments where reliability and service life are critical.
Active materials are encapsulated within double-perforated steel strips, increasing the effective surface area and promoting efficient utilization of the active material. Nickel-plated steel internal components, shock-resistant polypropylene containers, and durable separators help the cells withstand vibration, mechanical stress, electrical abuse, and harsh environmental conditions.
The HBL NCPP single-cell range is designed to comply with IEC 60623 and IS 10918 requirements.

Rugged Pocket Plate Construction
Pocket Plates
Active materials are encapsulated within double-perforated steel strips, helping increase the effective plate surface area and improve material utilization.
Nickel-Plated Components
Nickel-plated tabs, studs, nuts, and terminal posts provide excellent electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance.
Bolted Plate Groups
Plate groups are assembled under controlled torque conditions to withstand severe vibration and mechanical stress.
Polypropylene Grid Separators
Chemically inert polypropylene separators insulate the plate frames while allowing the electrolyte to circulate freely.
Translucent Polypropylene Containers
Shock-resistant containers are fusion-welded to their lids, creating a mechanically sturdy cell while allowing visual inspection of electrolyte levels.
Flame-Arresting Vent Caps
Flip-style flame-arresting vent caps help prevent external flames from propagating into the cell while protecting the electrolyte from contamination.
Integrated Splash Guards
Splash guards help prevent electrolyte splashing and reduce the possibility of short circuits caused by foreign objects entering the cell.
Flexible Battery Configurations
HBL NCPP cells can be supplied filled or dry and discharged based on installation, storage, and commissioning requirements. Available system components include:
