Emergency Telecom Power Plant Replacement - Chicago, IL

Alpine recently completed an emergency power plant replacement at a 5G cell site in Downtown Chicago, for one of the world’s largest telecommunications providers. In addition to completing the installation, Alpine successfully oversaw and managed the entire project, utilizing a group of 30 team members. A helicopter and crane were needed to airlift the replacement equipment to the outdoor cell site, that sat atop of a 26-story residential building.

To complete the airlift, Alpine had to coordinate with multiple residential buildings and schools within in the area. Alpine also worked with the City of Chicago to obtain permits and Chicago PD to set up roadblocks, keeping any through-traffic from coming within the designated area.

The scope of the replacement included the installation of a new Vertiv power cabinet equipped with (10) rectifiers, (12) EnerSys SBS XL batteries, and (3) Raycap Outdoor Surge Protection Devices.
